An epic trip to major sporting events throughout Europe & the USA

Day 68: Guernsey to Jersey

We spent the morning exploring Castle Cornet which sits on a rocky outcrop just off St Peters Port (connected via a stone pier these days). It was first constructed in the 13th century and has been added to and rebuilt over the centuries (including after lightning hit the explosive store and blew off the citadel).

We did a very interesting tour with Coral before seeing the firing on the noon day gun.

On the pier out to the castle is an elevated pool that is used for teaching kids to sail (all island kids get 3 free lessons).

It was then time to catch the ferry 1hr to Jersey.

Leaving Guernsey on the ferry

The arrival in to St Helier on Jersey was very disappointing compared to Guernsey. A mix of industrial complex, apartment blocks and the main road.

We did a self-guided walk around town that had a few interesting buildings but was like any provincial town.
