An epic trip to major sporting events throughout Europe & the USA

Day 36: Austria to Switzerland

A train ride to Zurich in Switzerland through Liechtenstein today. When the clouds were clear, there was some spectacular scenery from the train but mostly the mountains were in cloud unfortunately.

Liechtenstein – it only took about 20mins to ride through

Some key facts about Switzerland

– Population – 9 million

– Capital City – Bern

– National Sport – Football

– Summer Olympic Gold Medals – 53

– Winter Olympic Gold Medals – 63

– Highest Ever FIFA World Ranking – 10th

Zurich is an attractive town of old buildings and pleasant setting on the lake.

For the sporting fix for the day (apart from watching Euros, Wimbledon and Tour de France on TV), we watched some canoe polo training.

The highlight of the day however was having dinner with Terry Black’s friend Roger, who lives just north of Zurich. He took us to the best steakhouse in Zurich and the food and wine were sensational. Mamfa will not eat as well as this for a long time. Thanks Roger!

Yum!!!!!
