An epic trip to major sporting events throughout Europe & the USA

Day 33: Hallstatt

It was out into the Austrian countryside today with a trip to the stunningly beautiful lakeside town of Hallstatt (population 700 but can get up to 10,000 visitors a day in mid-summer). We first went up to the Five Fingers lookout which is at 2100m and has great views out over the lake and Hallstatt when it doesn’t look like this….

There’s a lake and village somewhere down there

However, the cloud and rain meant everyone else scattered back to the visitor centre so when the weather cleared 10 minutes later, we were the only ones there and rewarded with unobstructed views.

We met some other locals on the way back and explored some foreign terrain.

The clouds gradually cleared for the trip back down the cable car.

A bit of a surprise bump for some

By the time we got back to Hallstatt, the sun was out and the town looked stunning.

While having lunch, a little friend snuck up on us and challenged me to a race.

Finished off with a dip in the lake. I went all in but Mamfa just paddled about.

It was then a very scenic drive back to Salzburg and finished the day with a walk around the other city mountain with more great views to the Fortress.
