We started the day visiting the Hill of the Crosses which is a small hill with over 200,000 crosses left there by everyday people. They range in size from 3-4m high to a small cross that could be worn as a necklace.

Next up was the Cold War Museum which was the site of the very first Soviet intercontinental ballistic missile base. A very interesting tour. The site was built by Estonians because they couldn’t speak the language and didn’t know where they were. The site was stripped by the Russians when they left and then by the locals scavenging whatever they could get. It still had an original launch key for the missiles.

With the long drive and sightseeing, we didn’t start riding until 6pm. It was 45kms to Klaipeda. Started off very wet but cleared up and it was a great bike path through the forest with very smooth riding. Arrived about 9pm but after with very cold and wet little feet.
