An epic trip to major sporting events throughout Europe & the USA

Day 2 – Dubai

Burj Khalifa was the feature of the day viewed early morning, sunset and night. It is 828m high! For context, the tallest building in Melbourne is 317m high. Having done his final year University project on the structural stability of tall buildings, Mamfa was marvelling over the engineering that went into the project. They were completing a floor every three days during construction.

The day started with walk to the canal then to the beach where I got to feel the hot sand between my claws – back in my element. The lifeguards seemed a bit superfluous though with only waist deep water, no waves and not another soul around.

Mamfa was impressed with some of the structures around and had to take a few shots.

After retreating back to the hotel to get Mamfa out of the heat in the middle of the day (the weakling), the day ended with some sunset views and the Dubai Fountain show.

Mamfa finished reading “The In-Between” by Christos Tsiolkas. 3 stars.

On this day in history (28 May)

1742 1st indoor swimming pool opens (Goodman’s Fields, London)
