Today was a long bike ride around DC using the bike share bikes (heavy 3-speed bikes in variable condition). It’s a good thing DC is fairly flat and has a very good network of bike paths. The bike share system is also great with over 170 docking stations. It was only $8 for the day as long as you docked the bike every 45mins – which was easy to do.
We started out along the Anacostia Riverwalk trail then across to the Mount Vernon trail going past Reagan International Airport.

Continued along to join the Washington & Old Dominion trail which is an old rail freight line through the forest.

We then did a bit of on-street riding to join up with the Capital Crescent trail back into DC. We took a couple of wrong turns and ended up on almost motorway type roads with nowhere to get off so just had to keep going to next exit.
