An epic trip to major sporting events throughout Europe & the USA

Day 94: New York

Today we explored downtown New York. It started with walking the 2km long High Line Park path which is a fantastic repurposing of an old elevated freight rail line. Fantastic landscape design and great views.

At the end of the path is another garden built on an old pier. Fabulous structure.

It was then some exploring and finding some quirky sites and buildings.

We then took a trip on the Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty (for free) and had a short walk around Staten Island (which was worth about what we paid).

Next up was the 9/11 museum and memorial which was very well done and poignant. Lots of different displays including the damaged buildings and rescue vehicles and stories from those affected on the day.

The new subway station at World Trade Centre is quite stunning with an interesting sculpture out front.

The busy day ended with a Broadway show of The Great Gatsby at Broadway Theatre. It was very enjoyable with fabulous staging, singing and dancing.
