An epic trip to major sporting events throughout Europe & the USA

Day 67: Guernsey

Today we explored the island by local bus and foot. First stop was a selfie with Victor Hugo before heading to the Little Chapel (which was actually very little). It was built about 100 years ago and covered in mosaic both inside and out. The humans had to duck to get through it.

We then wandered past the Guernsey cows to the Occupation Museum. This was a quite extensive private collection of memorabilia and stories of the German Occupation of Guernsey from 1940-45 in WW2. It was the last place to surrender to the Allies.

We got back on the bus and headed to Portelet Bay on the west coast for a walk around the headland and the beach. Some very nice views and pleasant wading in the sea. We also visited Fort Grey Shipwreck Museum which was a very interesting collection of stories and salvaged material from the numerous shipwrecks that occurred around this area.

Another short bus ride to find Frog Rock which was hilarious.

Nearby was the ominous lookout tower that the Germans erected and a tomb that dates from about 2500BC that is locally known as the entry passage to the fairy kingdom.

Final bus trip back to St Peter Port to see Elizabeth Tower and the Candie Gardens.
